Mr. Chance Goodwin

I am honored and humbled to serve as the principal of Gadsden Middle School.  I am very passionate about education and look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging and high quality education.  Most of all, I look forward to working with our students and continuing the strong history of academic excellence here at Gadsden Middle.

Throughout my educational career, I have been privileged to have spent 13 wonderful years as an educator working with students from the elementary level.  I have served as a teacher, math specialist, and now principal.  My academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University and a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from The University of Alabama. I am married to Katie Goodwin who is also an educator. We have two beautiful children Brooks and Rory Kate Goodwin.

It is my core belief that great schools are the results of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving high-quality instruction from every teacher at GMS.  I envision that we will prepare ALL of our students academically, socially, and emotionally for the bright future that awaits them.  We will strive to provide all students with a safe and supportive learning environment.  My belief is that every child can and will learn if given the right opportunities.  Working together as a team with our staff and parents, I am committed to helping each student achieve their very best.  Together we will continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities and a culture of academic excellence for our students.
