Ms. Debra Staton is the guidance counselor at Gadsden Middle School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and is certified to teach English, reading, and biology, and she holds a master’s degree in school counseling, grades P-12 from Jacksonville State University. She taught science and reading at Cory Middle School for four years and was a guidance counselor at Cory Middle for one year before moving to Gadsden Middle School where she has been the guidance counselor for 16 years. She is a lifetime native of Gadsden where she and her husband have raised their two children.

Before receiving her education degree, Ms. Staton received a medical laboratory technician (MLT) associate degree from Gadsden State Community College. She was employed at Cullman Hospital and Mountain View Hospital as an MLT for two years. Next, she worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where she was an industrial hygiene technician for 13 years.
