April Fleming
Ms. April Fleming teaches regular and pre-AP 7th-grade science at Gadsden Middle School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education K-6 from Jacksonville State University and is highly qualified to teach middle school science, grades 4-8. Ms. Fleming lives in Altoona with her husband, Eric, and has three sons, Morgan, Jonah, and Brennen.

Demetria Works
Ms. Demetria Works teaches regular and pre-AP 7th-grade social studies at Gadsden Middle School. In addition, she co-sponsors JUNA, Beta Club, and the geography bee. She is chairperson for the advanced education school improvement plan and head of the social studies department. She lives in Glencoe with her two children, Katy Paige and Jon Austin.
Jacob Palmer
Mr. Jake Palmer teaches pre-AP 6th and 8th grade science at Gadsden Middle School as well as math intervention. He holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in general science from Jacksonville State University. Outside of shaping young minds, Mr. Palmer enjoys music, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Michael O’Brien
Coach Michael O’Brien has been at Gadsden Middle School since 2005 and is the 8th-grade math teacher. He is the math department chair and head football coach. He is a 2004 graduate of Jacksonville State University with a concentration in secondary math. He spent six years in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1994.
